Privacy Policy

How Hearing Health and this website handle your information. The short version: your data stays on your device.

Effective November 1, 2026 · Confluence Works LLC

Applies to: the Hearing Health iOS application (“the app”) and the securehearing.com website (“the website”), both operated by Confluence Works LLC (“we,” “us”).

The short version

Everything the app knows about you stays on your device. We operate no servers, run no analytics, use no advertising or tracking technologies, and have no ability to see your hearing data or your profile. Data leaves your device only when you choose to export or share it, and then it goes only where you send it. If we ever propose to change any of this, the change will take effect for you only if you affirmatively agree to it inside the app.

Information the app handles

Hearing data (from Apple Health). With your permission, the app reads audiogram data recorded by Apple’s hearing test from the Health app on your device. This data is processed entirely on your device — to display your results, generate plain-language educational explanations, produce PDF reports, and add educational context to the “Find Hearing Aids” screen (which, if you have already granted Health access, quietly reads your most recent test so its notes can describe how your results relate to each way of getting hearing aids). We never transmit, upload, or receive it. Revoking access in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices stops the app from reading it at any time. Your audiograms themselves live in Apple Health, under Apple’s control and your own — not ours.

Profile information you enter. You may optionally enter a name, date of birth, email address, and mailing address in the app’s My Profile screen. This information is stored only in the app’s local database on your device. It exists to save you re-typing: your name and date of birth can appear on PDF reports you generate, and your state powers the “What’s Covered?” coverage information screen. Your email address is stored but not used — the app sends nothing to it. None of this information is transmitted anywhere.

Coverage selections. Your state selection on the “What’s Covered?” screen is saved to the same local profile so the screen remembers it. It is not transmitted anywhere.

Terms acceptance. When you accept the Terms of Service, the app records on your device which version you accepted and when, so it doesn’t ask again until the Terms change. This record is not transmitted anywhere.

Information we collect about you: none. The app contains no analytics, telemetry, crash-reporting identifiers tied to you, advertising SDKs, or third-party data collection of any kind. We do not know who you are, that you installed the app, or how you use it.

When data leaves your device

Only at your direction. When you export an audiogram PDF, the app hands the file to the destination you choose — the iOS share sheet, an email you compose, or a location in the Files app. From that point the data is governed by whatever service you sent it to (for example, your email provider, or the recipient). We are not involved in and cannot see these transfers.

The app also contains links to external websites: government and nonprofit sources cited on the “What’s Covered?” screen (for example, state statutes, Medicare.gov, IRS publications, the VA, and the Hearing Loss Association of America), the websites of hearing aid sellers, manufacturers, professional directories, and Apple’s support pages listed on the “Find Hearing Aids” screen, and this policy and our support page on our own website, securehearing.com, linked from the “About & Support” screen. These open in an in-app browser (Apple’s Safari view, which keeps its browsing data separate from the app) and are governed by those sites’ own privacy practices. We pass them no information about you; like any website you visit, they can see standard browser information such as your IP address. Tapping a link tells us nothing — we have no relationship with, and receive nothing from, any listed site, and our own website’s host does not share visitor logs with us.

Apple Health commitments

We adhere to Apple’s requirements for HealthKit apps, and go further: we will never use information derived from Apple Health for advertising or marketing; never sell it; never share it with any third party; and never use it for any purpose other than the on-device features you can see in the app.

Data retention and deletion

Because we hold nothing, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Profile information persists on your device until you edit or remove it in My Profile, or delete the app, which removes the app’s local database entirely. If you back up your device (to iCloud or a computer), the app’s local database is included in that backup like any other app’s data; the backup is Apple’s service or your own file, under your control and Apple’s terms — we have no access to it. Your audiogram data in Apple Health is unaffected by deleting this app and remains under your control there.

Security

Data the app stores locally is protected by your device’s security: iOS app sandboxing and device encryption. Because the app has no accounts, passwords, or servers, there is no server-side breach risk to your data from us — the primary safeguard for your information is the same one protecting your device generally, which is why we recommend using a device passcode.

Children

The app is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. Apple’s hearing test itself is designed for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone — including children — because the app collects no information.

Your privacy rights

State privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar laws elsewhere) give consumers rights over personal information a business collects — access, deletion, correction, and opt-outs of sale or sharing. Our answer to any such request is structural: we have not collected your information, hold none of it, and have sold or shared none of it. Everything the app knows is on your device, where you can view, edit, or delete it directly. If you have questions or believe we hold any information about you, contact us at support@securehearing.com and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

This website

securehearing.com is a static informational website. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies, and it loads no third-party scripts or fonts. Like any web host, our hosting provider (GitHub Pages, operated by GitHub, Inc.) automatically processes technical information such as your IP address in order to deliver pages and protect its service. We do not receive visitor logs from it and do not use that information to identify you.

If you contact us

If you email or call us, we receive your email address or phone number and whatever you include in your message or voicemail. We use it only to respond to you and to keep ordinary business records, we never sell it or use it for marketing, and we never combine it with data from the app (which we do not have).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, and material updates will be announced in the app with reasonable notice before they take effect. One commitment overrides everything else: any change that would move your data off your device — collecting it on a server, syncing it, sharing it with anyone — will take effect for you only if you affirmatively opt in inside the app after seeing a clear description of exactly what would be collected and why. Silence, continued use, or a posted policy update will never constitute your consent to such a change. This commitment also binds any company that acquires the app or succeeds to our business. If you decline, the app’s on-device features keep working as before.
